Meet Katie
Katie Richards, Aesthetic Nurse and Certified Laser Technician
Katie is a dedicated Registered Nurse with over 17 years of experience since starting her career in 2007. Throughout her journey, she has worked across various healthcare settings including the ER, hospital, clinic, and education sectors. However, it was in aesthetics where she found her true passion, spending her last four years specializing in the field. Katie is a certified laser technician and recently completed Platelet-Rich Plasma training. Katie loves the laser technology and the natural effects of PRP that let you age in reverse. In addition to her nursing career, Katie served her country for six years in the SD Air National Guard Security Forces spending two years of active duty following the events of 9/11, which also included a brief overseas tour. Outside of work and service, Katie is happily married and a proud mother of three children – a daughter in high school and boy-girl twins in junior high. She cherishes her role as a wife and mother, considering herself spoiled and embracing the title of a “princess passenger” in the journey of life.
Having a registered nurse perform aesthetic services is important for several reasons:
Safety
Registered nurses have medical training and knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and potential complications. This ensures that procedures are performed safely, minimizing risks to patients.
Expertise
Nurses are skilled in assessing patients’ health status and identifying any contraindications or potential complications before performing aesthetic procedures. Their expertise helps ensure the best possible outcomes for patients.
Regulatory Compliance
In many jurisdictions, regulations require certain aesthetic procedures to be performed by healthcare professionals, such as registered nurses, to ensure patient safety and regulatory compliance.
Patient Confidence
Patients often feel more confident undergoing aesthetic procedures when they know a registered nurse is administering the treatment. The presence of a healthcare professional can alleviate concerns and build trust in the quality of care provided.
Emergency Response
In the rare event of an adverse reaction or complication during a procedure, registered nurses are trained to respond quickly and effectively, potentially preventing serious harm to the patient.
